1. Background:
The Mozambique Transmission Company (MOTRACO) is a limited liability company incorporated in the Republic of Mozambique in 1998. It operates as a joint venture between Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), Eskom Holdings (Eskom), and Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC). MOTRACO was created as a cooperative vehicle with the primary objective of building, owning, operating, and maintaining the transmission system, supplying electricity to the Mozal aluminum smelter in Mozambique, and facilitating power transfer to EEC and EDM.
2. Context and Description:
MOTRACO has been conducting grass cutting and herbicide application at Barberton (South Africa) and Beleluane (Maputo) substations to prevent grass growth within the yard. The herbicide mixture used complies with environmental procedures applied in each country.
3. Scope of Work:

The scope of work includes the following tasks:
- Application of herbicide inside the substation yard;
- Cutting 5 meters of grass around the substation as a firebreak;
- Cutting grass in front of the outer fencing of the Maputo Substation.
4. Site Visit:
A site visit is scheduled for 11:00 on May 29th at the Maputo Substation. Additional information will be provided during the visit.
5. Closing Date:
Proposals must be submitted no later than 12:00 on June 21, 2024, following the format below:
- Lot 1: Offer for the Maputo Substation only;
- Lot 2: Offer for Barberton only;
- Lot 3: Offer for both substations.
