1992 August The SADC Treaty is signed;
1992 October Peace is achieved in Mozambique and democratic elections are held in the same year;
1995 August SADC sign Memorandum Inter_Governamental ( IGMOU ) that results in the establishment Shouthern African Power Poll ( SAPP);
1997 January Governments of Mozambique and South Africa signed a IGMOU for the development of hydro-electric potential and its high-voltage transmission lines in Mozambique;
1997 March The Government of Mozambique and Alusaf sign a Memorandum of Understandings for the establishment of an aluminum plant in Mozambique;
1997 June An electricity tariff for the Mozal was agreed . However, the power supply to Mozal could not be carried out by Eskom (legislation problems) or EDM ( underflow ) . A company with especias purposes had to be created to solve this problem;
1998 March the Government of Mozambique approved the Motraco project with some tax benefits;
1998 October Motraco is incorporated with three shareholders EDM , Eskom and EEC , each maintaining the same quota in the Joint Venture.
