Subject: Request for Proposal (RFP No.32/MOT/2025): Defect Repair on Camden – Edwaleni and Edwaleni – Maputo 400 kV Transmission Lines
1. Background:
The Mozambique Transmission Company- MOTRACO is a limited liability company incorporated in Republic of Mozambique in 1998. The companies are a joint venture of Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), Eskom holding (Eskom) and Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC). MOTRACO was created as a vehicle for co-operation with the primary objective of building, owning, operating, maintaining the Transmission system, and supplying electricity to the Mozal aluminium smelter in Mozambique and wheeling power to EEC and EDM.
Terms of Reference2. Contextualization:
MOTRACO intends to proceed with corrective maintenance on the Camden – Edwaleni and Edwaleni – Maputo 400kV transmission lines, following defects identified during an aerial Inspection.
The inspection identified damages and defects affecting critical components, including earth wires, conductors, insulators, spacers, tower labels, and bird nests.
The corrective work shall be executed in strict compliance with:
- Applicable transmission line maintenance standards established by NTCSA;
- Environmental regulations and safety requirements established by NTCSA and other relevant standards.
3. Scope of work:
The detailed scope of works in an attached document. Contractor is required to:
Camden – Edwaleni Line
- Earth Wire Damaged: Tower span 150 -151 – right Side.
- Earth Wire Damaged: Tower span 150 -151 – right Side.
- Spacer missing: Tower 46, On the Edwaleni Side.
- Bird Nest: Tower 98, 99, 241, 243,261,296 and 297.
- Conductor joint very close to the attachment point on tower: Tower span 312 – 313.
Edwaleni – Maputo Line
- Bird Nest on Tower 98, 99, 241, 243,261,296 and 297.
- Tower label broken: Tower 113.
- Earth Wire Jumper broken: Tower 145, 169,170 and 179.
4. Format of proposal:
4.1. The proposal must be detailed and present the following:
- Company profile and relevant HV line repair experience.
- Technical methodology and work plan for execution.
- Proposed timeline and schedule.
- Detailed financial proposal.
- Northeast Grid Authorization for Work in Transmission Lines as per proposed methodology.
- Reference from similar projects.
