Subject: Request for Proposal (RFP No. 21/MOT/2025) – Supply of an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), decommissioning of the existing UPS, Installation, and commissioning of the new System for MOTRACO Office.

1. Background

The Mozambique Transmission Company–MOTRACO–is a limited liability company incorporated in Republic of Mozambique in 1998. The companies are a joint venture of Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), Eskom holding (Eskom) and Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC). MOTRACO was created as a vehicle for co-operation with the primary objective of building, owning, operating, maintaining the Transmission system, and supplying electricity to the Mozal aluminium smelter in Mozambique and wheeling power to EEC and EDM.

2. Scope of work

MOTRACO intends to purchase an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) unit for the main Office as per the Scope of work and specification below.

2.1. Decommissioning of Existing UPS

  • Safely shut down and disconnect the existing UPS system.
  • Remove all associated components, including batteries and cables.
  • Correct disposal of batteries in compliance with environmental regulations and transport of decommissioned equipment to Maputo Substation.
  • The disposal process must be documented and the disposal certificate shall be provided.

2.2. Supply and Delivery of New UPS

  • Supply and deliver a new UPS rated at 15KVA in line with the technical Specifications, including cablings and accessories.

2.3. Installation and commissioning

  • Removal of old equipment (UPS and cabling).
  • Install the UPS on the existing rack and connect to the existing distribution board and commission.
  • Ensure all cabling, terminations, and configurations are completed to industry standards.
  • Perform functional testing and load testing.
  • Verifying all parameters and alarms are functioning correctly.
  • Ensure UPS is fully operational and ready for use.

2.4. Documentation, Warranty and Support

  • Submit all user manuals, test reports, warranties for UPS system and Installation and configuration documentation.

3.1 The proposal must be detailed and present the following:

  • Detailed Financial Proposal (breakdown of supply, transport, labour, installation)
  • Delivery Timeline
  • Warranty Terms and after-sales support plan
  • Minimum of 2 reference letters
